Oh dear, here we are again at that day of the year when many of us might feel compelled to make a new year’s resolution. Hmm.
A great one for making and breaking resolutions, my inclination is to not fall into the trap of my own devising. If I don’t promise that I will eat healthier food, exercise more regularly, write every day, or whatever else I come up with on this last day of December – then there will be no crushing disappointment in a couple of days when I fail to live up to my own expectations.
So, no resolution then, but of course, I have hopes. How about world peace and meaningful climate change mitigation? Probably the stuff of fairy tales. My more realistic hope is for all of us to enjoy a healthy year in the company of the people we care for.
On that note: “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” Thank you, Bobby McFerrin, for the sentiment. I think I should adopt it as my theme song for 2023.
Lacy and I wish you all the best. May you keep your resolutions, achieve your goals and may your dreams come to fruition.
